Heavy Leather Guitar Straps

Posted on 31 March 2010 by diode

The nice folks over at Heavy Leather NYC were kind enough to send us at the Music Gear Daily office a couple of their new high end guitar straps for review recently.  If the style is to your taste they are definitely high quality, handcrafted leather goods. The leather is very soft and seems that it would last a lifetime. They are heavy with all of the ornamentation, and may not fit everyone’s taste but if quality leather is your bag, these won’t disappoint. If they’re good enough for Lemmy, they’re good enough for you ;)

Strymon has posted some shots of their demo pedalboard from the 2010 NAMM show last week. Looks like there is a previously unannounced reverb and also a chorus on there. From the site: “Introducing the Strymon blueSky reverberator and the Ola dBucket chorus / vibrato. We are swamped trying to get these done but we promise we’ll have more details, pictures, videos in the days to come. Please stay tuned and check this section of the website often!”

Also, here is a closeup of their upcoming Orbit flanger which will feature thru zero flanging among other things.

Vintage Supro amp reproduction

Posted on 19 October 2009 by diode

supro

Doh! I waited too long. I’ve had my eye on a custom reproduction of a vintage supro amp cabinet for a while. It was made by ampcabco. Their website is now down so it looks like I’ll no longer be able to get it :(
The cab was this beautiful little baby blue tolex 112. I was planning on shoving in the guts of an EL84 based design that I started on as a teenager and never quite finished. Oh well, time to start looking for a different box. The Marshall 18watt style repro cabs from mojo look nice … but, somehow too ordinary. If anyone has info on where to get a blue supro style cab, please contact us.

Strymon previews new BBD pedal

Posted on 22 September 2009 by diode

5knob_blog-preview

Strymon has just announced a preview of a new delay pedal on their web site blog. It’s called the BBD and is a DSP based implementation of an analog delay with true bypass and tap tempo.

from the site: “BBD takes the compact aluminum chassis and form factor developed for the OB.1 and crams in a TON of DSP horsepower … more than has ever existed in such a compact pedal. We love analog delays but at the same time they pose some serious limitations. So, we decided to take a super powerful SHARC DSP and dedicate to doing one thing and one thing only … delivering the best analog bucket brigade delay sound ever.”
