Moog MIDI MuRF

Posted on 17 August 2009 by diode

Moog has combined the guitar and bass MuRF pedals and added a full midi implementation in the new MF-105M. At $479 it’s definitely not cheap but it is very cool sounding.

Custom Echo Park - internal shots

Posted on 24 March 2009 by diode

Internal wiring isn’t quite as neat as it could be but…oh well. All of the guitar signals are made with shielded cable. The cabling for the pots, toggle switch, power supply and tap footswitch are unshielded since they are all DC control voltages or DC supply.

Mounting the module pcb to the main pcb is the most difficult part of the conversion. It’s hard soldered so if this baby breaks, it’s pretty much game over.

State Shirt with Digital Echoplex looper

Posted on 12 February 2009 by diode

Looping madness. Very impressive stuff. The rig includes two Echoplex digital looper/delay rack units, a midi controller, keyboard, and Line6 AM4 and DL4.

I’ve been playing around with a new live setup that includes a couple drums and keyboards, as well as guitar and my usual effects and looper pedals. I just wrote this song yesterday, still not 100% sure on the song title yet. I set up all of my crap in the kitchen and recorded a little live performance. Hope you like it.”

the beavis board - BYOP

Build your own pedal, breadboard included. From their site:

“Do you want to learn about building guitar stompbox circuits? Have you been frustrated before by soldering, or trying to buy the right parts? Have you tried your hand at various kits, but want to learn more about how circuits actually work?…”

WayHuge Electronics re-launches with new site

Posted on 16 December 2008 by diode

WayHuge electronics has re-launched under the Dunlop brand.

Jeorge Tripps, the founder, started WayHuge in 1992 and built a cult following. After closing shop in 1999, the pedals got extremely popular and valuable on the ebay/used gear circuit. After ‘99 he did a stint at Line6 and was involved in such products as the DL4, MM4, Spider amps and the Tonecore pedals. Now, teaming up with Dunlop, Wayhuge will be his main gig once again. The new pedals look great, that’s for sure.

Classic Effects: ADA Flanger

Posted on 11 December 2008 by diode

My ADA is one of my most beloved pieces of gear. It’s analog flanging is pretty much unmatched by any device since. I’ve never heard a plug-in or digital emulation that came close. If you ever have a chance to buy one and the price isn’t insane…DO IT! There was also a re-issue products briefly in the 90’s but I don’t have any first hand experience playing one. Classic bucket brigade circuitry.

Especially cool to integrate with an analog synth since it also has voltage control!

Here’s a pic of my ADA:
